Head of New Products & Services

BBOXX RDC has a unique vision to transform households and businesses across DRC with next generation energy solutions, appliances and utility services. We have a product range that can electrify entire cities: from small households to large businesses; and we are on a mission to scale it across the country. We are looking for truly exceptional, resilient individuals to join us on our quest and ambition to create the largest utility in Congo (500K+ connections) and to make the DRC the first country in the world where the virtual distributed clean solar grid leapfrogs the physical grid within the next 5 years.

Location: Goma, DRC

Reporting Line: Managing Director

Role Purpose: To oversee all new product development and commercial roll for BBOXX RDC. You need to identify new opportunities to transform houses, communities and businesses in DRC and take them from idea to reality. The ideal candidate has a mixture of operations, analytics and project management experience, and a hunger to transform Congo

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the progress from pilot to scale the roll out of products targeting new customer segments in the small and medium enterprise category (BBOXX Business and mini-grids)

• Identify opportunities for new services for our exisiting customer base and take this from concept to scale; priority areas are currently pay-go gas, ironing services and satellite TV

• Manage the P&L for new products and services, reporting regularly on the economics of product and identifying ways to improve the economics

• Work with our established technical partners, GoShop, to create a minimum-viable product for this customer segment and implement this in Goma and Bukavu

• Design the customer journey for new products and services and oversee the smooth implementation of this customer journey by working closely with established departments within BBOXX RDC (customer service, portfolio management, sales etc.)

• Interface with our Innovation team in Kigali and London to feedback requirements for the Pulse system regarding this new product range and to discuss higher level commercial opportunities for this business segment

• Identify commercial opportunities for all new products and services (sources of funding, implementing partners etc.) and spearhead their success within the DRC. You would manage all relationships with donors relating to these projects and identify funding opportunities that can help us take products from idea to implementation
